THE INSURGENTS

Politicians, economists, and troublemakers who refuse to accept managed decline. Writing the arguments that matter for people who think for themselves.

Steve Baker
Chairman

STEVE BAKER

RAF engineer, software architect at Lehman Brothers, the MP who made Brexit arithmetically possible, a government minister who lost his seat — and decided to build a movement rather than disappear. Baker has spent thirty years inside institutions that were supposed to work and watched them fail from every angle.

Now he chairs Fighting for a Free Future and hosts The Insurgency podcast, turning the organising instincts that once rewired Parliament toward the harder problem: changing what Britain thinks is possible.

Harry Richer
Director

HARRY RICHER

Harry Richer is the Director of Fighting for a Free Future and co-hosts The Insurgency podcast. Before launching FFF, he served as Baker's senior aide and was Head of Research for the Covid Recovery Group, the backbench caucus that challenged the UK Government's lockdown modelling in real time.

A contributing author to The Age of Debt Bubbles (Springer, 2024) and published in CapX and The National Interest, he sits at the junction of policy research, editorial provocation and broadcast media — the person who turns an argument into a headline.

Liam Noble Shearer
Operations Manager

LIAM NOBLE SHEARER

Liam Noble Shearer runs the operational backbone of Fighting for a Free Future — podcast production, Substack publishing, and the logistics that keep a media brand running. A former Parliamentary staffer and freelance writer with bylines in City AM and Research Professional News, he brings a rare combination of political experience and editorial instinct to the operation.

Viggo Terling

VIGGO TERLING

Research Associate at the Adam Smith Institute and board member of the Swedish Moderates. Writes on economic liberalism, digital governance, and institutional reform with a cross-border perspective that most Westminster commentary lacks.

Albie Amankona

ALBIE AMANKONA

Financial analyst, broadcaster, and co-founder of Britain's first centre-right anti-racist organisation. Joined FFF because "the British right has broken faith with the country it inherited." Monthly columnist and regular on Sky News, LBC, and Times Radio.

Eve Lugg

EVE LUGG

Former Cabinet Office Special Adviser who saw the machinery of government from inside — and decided to argue against it. Writes on liberty, state overreach, and the post-lockdown drift toward control. Monthly columnist and Counter-Insurgency regular.

John Abbott

JOHN ABBOTT

Former IEA intern turned EPICENTER research coordinator turned Harrow Council caseworker. A first-class International Relations graduate fluent in Russian, with something most policy wonks lack: a front-row seat to how government actually lands on real people.
